Designer Polly Ho is a graduate of the School of Design, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and the University of Central England. During a trip to Guangzhou, she discovered a heritage fabric called Canton silk, which is an intangible cultural heritage of China. The discovery inspired Polly to quit her job and pursue her dream in fashion design. In 2013, Polly launched her own brand, Loom Loop, and served as a fashion consultant for several Chinese brands. Loom Loop’s first collection was released in spring/summer 2014.
Polly is an advocate of the slow fashion movement. Elements such as heritage, sustainability and “east-meets-west” underpin her brand. With her second collection, she was scouted by the global CEO of the South Beach hotel in Singapore, which was built by Norman Foster and designed by Philippe Starck. The golden opportunity landed her a sizable corporate project and catapulted her brand beyond Hong Kong.
Since then, Polly has gone on to win an array of awards, including the SME’s Youth Entrepreneurship Award 2015, Design for Asia Award 2015 & 2016 — Category Award (Bronze), Perspective 40 under 40 Award for Fashion Design 2016, and RITAHK award for Retailer of the Year for Small Business 2016, A’ Design Award 2017 (Silver), and German Design Award 2018, Distinction. She has presented catwalk shows at the Tokyo Fashion Week in 2015, 2016 and 2017, and at the official New York Fashion Week in 2016 and 2017.
